The Limerick and District Anglers Association was founded in 1939 by well know figures, Gus Nestor, formerly of Nestors fishing tackle shop on O’Connell Street, which is sadly no longer there.  René Cusack of the long-established Cusack fish shops and the renowned local poet, author and historian Kevin Hannan Senior.

our mission

Our mission is to uphold and enhance the long-standing angling traditions that are associated with the Lower River Shannon, liaise with state bodies ensuring fishing rights are upheld and enhance our angling environment.

NEW MEMBERS WELCOME

Covering a vast area of the Shannon from O’Brien’s Bridge & its tributaries down to Thomond Bridge in the heart of Limerick City. It is the club’s intention to ensure that the River and its world-renowned Game, Pike and Coarse angling can continue for many generations to come.

We have an emphasis on ensuring our younger generation of anglers get to experience the rich traditions of angling and hand the river over in time to come.
It is important that we remember & acknowledge all the men & women that were part of creating this super fishery and making it what it is today, and for that we thank them for their hard work and commitment to the Limerick & District Angling Association. The club recently resumed its long-standing tradition of pike angling competitions on the Shannon which are proving to be a huge success. We are currently looking for new members and especially junior anglers to join our ranks to learn about fishing and give them the opportunity to experience the positive impact fishing and being outdoors in general can offer.
