Had a day trip organised today and we got a few club members out. With thanks to Luke Aston our crew got out for some big fish.
With the 9 o clock start lads and girls were excited to see what the day might throw up. The 1st couple of hrs were tied up bait fishing. So they got the mackerel and some pollock on board. With the seas flat and the sun out our very own Charlene got out the sun cream and put on her 1st line of protection.
After the bait fish were caught they headed of out to Lukes favourite mark for big fish and anchored up. With the occasional tap and knock on the bottom. At 1.40 the sound of a screaming reel our very own Charlene (chaz) as she is known to us struck in. It was on
Luke got her ready and harnessed her up and she was ready for her long fight. She was playing him well and he was coming slowly. 2 came and went 2.30 and finally at 3.15 they sight they were waiting for came into view. the shadow of the big one.
At the estimate of 1300lb and 15ft long the green eyed monster with the brown body was at the boat.
A poor, shattered and sore body of charlene finally had her prize. After an iffy few days building up to it and chaz worried about her sea legs were all forgot about as she took in her prize.
We would like to thank Luke for looking after our crew and we will get out again and thank kevin foley for the pictures.
