Day 2 of Limerick & District Anglers Association new league took place Sunday 27th of January at Castleconnell.
Fishing was from 1030-1530.
We had 15 senior anglers and 9 junior anglers.
The club used our boats to bring anglers to a few spots that are inaccessible by foot.
Today was a very different affair than the last day out at the Pumphouse. Pike seemed to be fairly plentiful even in the very cold northwest breeze. We were delightfully graced with the presence of our esteemed leader and club president Jaygo O Donnell who drew first blood with a lovely jacker, as he stated himself “you have to be years at it”…… sitting on the wall in Worlds end, rod under his arm, he was chatting to some of our junior members, offering advice and tips and keeping an eye on proceedings in general while ensuring the younger members didn’t stray too close to the water. It has to be said seeing that sight today is the essence of what we are about, a stalwart of this club showing younger ones a few hints was absolutely brilliant and it was a fabulous sight to see.
Anglers were well spread out and two more great club members walked the bank, again chatting to younger members and helping them out, thank you to Seán O Halloran & John O Connell for your help today.

Well done to Peter Hannan for winning it today with an excellent fish but Jack Pike nudged ahead in the league again and remains the man to be caught.
As expected even with that head start he is finding it tough to keep his lead up as 4 jackers today took nearly 20lb off his lead the competition is heating up already and we’re only 2 competitions in.
See you all at the next one and thank you to everyone who turned out on what the weather forecast said was to be a very poor day, but it actually turned out fine but cold.
Our next competitions / league will be held as follows:
February 17th Plassey
March 03rd Plassey
March 24th Lough Gur
April 07th Castleconnell
April 21st Pumphouse
Competitions open to all but league strictly for club members
